How to add new kanban columns
This article describes how to add new kanban columns to the project and task kanban views.
Updated over a week ago

In Project.co you can see your projects listed in a kanban view. In any of these views you can add/remove/edit the kanban columns. This article explains how to do that.

In this article see:

Projects kanban

The projects kanban shows the account level projects statuses by default. To edit these statuses hover your mouse over the + icon in any of the kanban column headers and choose "Edit Project Statuses".

Project statuses

You'll then see a pop up where you can edit the project statuses. When you save, each status will then be displayed as a column in the kanban.

Project statuses

You can also set the columns to be a custom field instead of using the project statuses. To do this go to the projects list page and click on the + button in the right most column header of the table. This will let you create a new custom field for all projects.

Projects Custom Field

If you want to use your custom field as a kanban column header you must set the custom field "Type" to "Select" or "Select-Color". Create and save the custom field. Then go back to the projects kanban view and click the "Choose kanban columns" button and select your new custom field from the list:

Your custom field values will now show as the kanban column headers.

Tasks kanban - All tasks view

The all tasks kanban shows the account level task statuses by default. To edit these statuses hover your mouse over the + icon in any of the kanban column headers and choose "Edit Task Statuses".

Tasks kanban - Single project tasks view

The kanban view for tasks when you're inside a single project works in the same way as the main tasks kanban view but with 1 difference. When you create a custom field inside a project it only applies to that project. This means you can create custom fields that apply as the kanban header columns for that project only.

This can be great if you have a project that doesn't follow the norm and you want to record different data points on it.

To do this go to the tasks list page inside the project and click on the + button in the right most column header of the table. This will let you create a new custom field for all tasks inside this project only (a project level custom field).

If you want to use your custom field as a kanban column header you must set the custom field "Type" to "Select" or "Select-Color". Create and save the custom field. Then go back to the tasks kanban view and click the "Choose kanban columns" button and select your new custom field from the list:

Your custom field values will now show as the kanban column headers for this project only.
